Sustainability initiative

Chimique® is committed to the belief that sustainable development is the key to a prosperous future for our planet.

Our commitment

Sustainable development, built into how we operate

Chimique® embraces a framework that fosters lasting economic growth, environmental stewardship, social justice and effective governance.

Our relentless pursuit of sustainability is reflected in every aspect of our product line, as we strive to create a better world for future generations. Through ongoing initiatives, we are dedicated to achieving complete sustainability across all our products and operations.

That includes the guar behind our PHGG — grown by farming families we work with directly, on soil we have an interest in protecting.

Initiatives

What we are doing

Six programmes running across our operations and our supply chain.

Utilisation of renewable resources

Chimique® actively incorporates renewable sources of power in its operations, reducing reliance on non-renewable energy and contributing to a cleaner environment.

Implementation of a water harvesting system

We are committed to responsible water management through rainwater harvesting and effective sewage recycling, ensuring efficient water usage and conservation.

Sustainable sourcing programme

We prioritise inputs procured through sustainable sourcing programmes, promoting ethical practice and supporting environmentally conscious suppliers.

Empowering farmers

We support a large number of farming families by advocating soil protection, encouraging biofertilizers, implementing drip and sprinkler irrigation, and promoting organic farming methods.

Increasing farmers' income

Through capacity building, distribution of high-yielding seed varieties, knowledge sharing and farmers' fairs, we work to raise farm incomes and support economic stability.

Sustainability across the product line

Our pursuit of sustainability runs through every part of the product line — including the guar that becomes our PHGG.

Why it matters

Backward integration is a sustainability story too

Most ingredient suppliers buy on the open market, which means the farming behind the product is somebody else's problem. Ours isn't.

We can actually change practice

Because the guar behind our PHGG is grown through our own network rather than bought at auction, soil protection, water use and seed quality are things we can influence directly — season after season, with the same families.

Water is the real constraint

Guar grows in semi-arid Haryana and Rajasthan, where water is the limiting factor in a good year and the deciding one in a bad year. Drip and sprinkler irrigation, rainwater harvesting and sewage recycling are not gestures here; they are what keeps the crop viable.

Stable incomes mean stable supply

Higher-yielding seed, shared agronomy and farmers' fairs raise what a family earns from the same land. That stability is also what protects our customers from the price swings that have made other hydrocolloids so difficult to plan around.

Renewable power on site

Renewable sources are built into plant operations, cutting reliance on non-renewable energy and lowering the footprint of every tonne we ship.

Traceable to the field

Knowing which farms the crop came from is increasingly what export customers and retailers ask for. Our structure means we can answer, rather than pointing at a broker.

A product that fits the brief

Plant-derived, Non-GMO soluble fibre sits naturally inside a sustainability story. The ingredient and the way it is made point in the same direction.
